Summer
UK Rock
The UK has a huge amount of rock climbing on roadside crags to remote mountain settings. Rock climbing is one of the key disciplines to becoming a competent mountaineer, not just the realm of the young and strong. I have climbed and guided in most areas in the UK especially in the mountains and extensively in Scotland. Having a large repertoire allows us to maximise time on dry rock with the best weather available.
Alpine Rock and Mountaineering
Over in mainland Europe, the Alps have rock a plenty. The only difference is that protection is already in place with bolts, allowing faster progress up and off. Having spent 6 years living in Vaud, Switzerland, I have a great knowledge of the Western Alps and associated rock climbs for all abilities.
May, June and September are good months for UK rock and July, August for some Alpine fun. Even in the busy summer months in the Alps, quiet venues are easy to find.
Through June to September I am usually out in the Alps working the Summer season. My speciality is individuals and small teams operating wherever the weather and conditions dictate. Based in the quiet area of Canton Vaud in Switzerland it’s only a short hop to most classic venues, plus lots of lower mountains on my doorstep.
A flexible approach to climbing is essential for any Alpinist, so I am happy to build in rest days to any itinerary, plus travel to where may be best for your success
The Alps are vast, and I have spent 28 years travelling them, getting to know many of its quieter corners and climbs
Most of my work engagements are for 5 or 6 days, but I will consider shorter or longer periods if it can be fitted into my diary, so get in touch early!.
